Choosing between the Light Bee and Ultra Bee comes down to three things: your weight, your terrain, and your appetite for maintenance.

The Light Bee X is the lighter, cheaper and more moddable platform. At 50 kg it is genuinely flickable — you can lift it over a gate. The 6 kW peak output is plenty for trails and technical riding, and the aftermarket is enormous.

The Ultra Bee doubles the power and adds rider modes, traction control and a colour dash. It feels like a small motocross bike rather than a big mountain bike. If you ride open terrain, jumps or fire roads, it is worth every penny of the premium.

Range is comparable in practice: the Ultra Bee's bigger battery offsets its higher consumption. Budget for a fast charger either way — halving charge time changes how you ride.
